Test yourself your silicone sample in 2 minutes

You probably tell yourself all silicone kitchenware are probably more or less the same quality. Or maybe you think it is impossible to know without testing in a laboratory, and that the most expensive product or the most famous brand is probably the best... Then you're wrong!

There is a quick and very simple way to check by yourself if your product is of good quailty:

Here are 2 silicone cookware that look perfectly similar (excepted the color, but color doesn't matter here). However, beware! One of them is over 30% less expensive to produce, its physical and chemical characteristics are clearly lower, and most of the time it can't pass with success quality checks for importation in Europe.

To know which one it is, do the following test: take your sample product and pinch it with your nail as shown on the following pictures. (Don't be afraid to press a little harder, silicone matter doesn't get destroyed that easily.

1st case: you can't see any difference in the silicone apparence. Congratulations! Your product is of excellent quality!

2nd case: you can see a whitening of the product. Be carefull! Your product is at best of poor quality, or worse, doesn't pass legal quality standards, which could lead to customs seizure.

Answer: By requesting "Silecone" quality for your products. Otherwise, request that your products comply with European food grade silicone standards (ex : LFGB, the German standard), and do not just rely on a "FDA" certification.
